There are few places on earth with deadly accurate,
predictable golf weather. Maybe Aruba, but even there it can
get a little breezy. Wherever you tee it up, including
certain items in your bag at all times will be a comfort
when the clouds roll in unexpectedly. Plus, it will make you
look good in front of your playing partners.
Every
serious golfer must have:
-
Water repellent
outerwear
Make sure your rain gear is truly water repellant.
Water resistant may not be good enough for the monsoon
that just showed up.
-
Bucket hat
Keeping your head dry is paramount to your continued
enjoyment of the round. Ball caps are not impervious to
moisture.
-
Cart gloves
You need 2 pair, one to alternate.
-
Water repellant golf
shoes
Dry feet are happy feet, and they want to keep
playing.
-
2nd pair
of golf socks
Even if your shoes are water repellant, the cuffs of
your socks will get wet. Throwing on your second pair
after the round while enjoying a cocktail is something to
look forward to.
-
Umbrella
Kind of a no-brainer - how many have you been given in
golf outings over the years?
-
Towels
There's nothing worse than sitting in a wet golf cart
seat before you even hit the first tee. Make sure you have
extra dry towels in your bag.
-
Rain cover for your
clubs
This will keep grips and clubs dry. You should cover
your clubs at the first sign of rain - the last thing you
want is wet grips.
-
Hand warmers
Great when the temperature suddenly goes south and
you're playing in the north!
Things to keep in mind during the round:
-
It
is always good to wear layers. You can remove one
if it gets too warm, but you will be comfortable when it
cools off.
-
Carry plenty of nourishing snacks.
Remember...after the round, especially when it rains:
-
Clean and
dry off your clubs and grips so they don’t get moldy.
