Never Played
You are interested in learning how to play golf but have
virtually no idea about how to hold/grip the club.
Miniature golf may be your only golf experience!
New Golfer
You may have hit balls at a driving range, attended a clinic
or have had a few lessons from a pro or a friend, but you
still have difficulty making contact with the ball.
You are just starting to learn the basics of the game.
Advanced Beginner
You have a better understanding of the skills and mechanics
of the swing and are making contact with the ball
consistently. You may be able to play a Par 3 or 9 holes on
a regulation course. You have general knowledge of the
game, including basic rules and etiquette (e.g. keeping pace
of play on the course).
Intermediate
You have a USGA Handicap between 20 and 36 or routinely play
9 or 18 holes and shoot between 92 and 110. You are able to
make consistent contact with the ball and have the ability
to aim for targets, with good results. You are using most of
the clubs in your bag and have established the distance that
you hit each one. You have better knowledge of the game in
general. You may play in golf tournaments (9 or 18
holes) or be part of a league.
Advanced
You have a USGA Handicap 20 or lower or routinely break 100
for 18 holes. You are able to subconsciously make a good
swing resulting in solid, consistent contact with the ball
and have the ability to execute a variety of shots. Lower
handicap players will also possess the ability to
automatically control direction, distance and the spin on
their shots. You have advanced knowledge of the game,
including rules of golf and etiquette. |
